    Technology / Specs

The TaylorMade SLDR driver is a successful blend of art and science, culminating in a driver for everyone with a sleek and clean appearance. TaylorMade's research and design technicians spent many hours reinventing their industry standard of Moveable Weight Technology with the creation of the SLDR driver. They have found ways to become more efficient at energy transfer, and have found a creative way to move the center of gravity. Let's reveal in deeper detail why this distance generating driver is turning heads.

Wild and innovative clubhead designs have become the norm with many golf manufacturers. TaylorMade is going in a different direction: back to its roots. They are taking a step back from the white color scheme of past drivers and introducing a dark grey color for the entire crown of the club. They have added silver graphics to the clubhead to help with alignment purposes. The appearance of the SLDR driver is one of a traditional club, with a rounder clubhead and dark graphics making it appear smaller.

TaylorMade has created a sliding track for a single twenty gram weight which can lock into twenty-one different positions. The middle notch on the track is painted in blue to indicate a neutral setting. The sliding weight is now easier than ever to adjust, sliding back and forth, from heel-to-toe. Modifying the weight from one extreme to the other can help fine tune your shot dispersion. The weight technology used in previous TaylorMade drivers consisted of one gram and ten gram weights. Those weights could be interchanged only with each other, which limited the fine tuning capability. The new revolutionary single weight shifts the center of gravity in the SLDR driver, placing it closer to the sole and face of the driver. This lower center of gravity creates a higher initial launch, and a forward center of gravity creates faster ball speeds. Combined higher launch and faster ball speeds help produce longer drives.

The Loft-Sleeve on the shaft is a fine tuning feature of the golf club, which enhances the launch angle. It can be altered into a variety of twelve different positions to effectively change the loft of the driver ± 1.5 degrees from the standard loft setting. The SLDR is available in 8, 9.5, 10.5, and 12 degrees of loft. The left hander has the option of 9.5 and 10.5 degrees of loft.

The shaft in the SLDR driver is the Fujikura Speeder Shaft. This shaft has a length of 45.5 inches and weighs 57 grams. It is available in medium, regular, and stiff flexes. There is a ladies' flex available that weighs 47 grams. For those seeking the TP version, the shaft is a Fujikura Motore Speeder shaft, with a length of 45.5 inches and weighing 65 grams. All colors and graphics of the shafts match that of the clubhead: grey, silver, and blue. These shafts work in concert with the clubhead in order to generate more speed and produce a great feel.

The enhancements of weight technology and the adjustment of the center of gravity brought to life in the TaylorMade SLDR driver will benefit all golfers. The design of this driver has blended the power and gracefulness that is necessary to breed confidence. Go ahead and take a look at the best performing driver TaylorMade has every created and see if you agree.
