The new 2014 Nike VRS Covert 2.0 driver has enhanced playability and even greater distance thanks to Nike's golf research and design team. They're introducing a different club head shape with new design elements that make this a long distance driving machine. Let's take a look at what makes the Covert 2.0 the best performance driver that Nike has made to date.
The VRS Covert 2.0 driver features a unique fly-brace technology, which ties the sole to the crown of the golf club. When a golf ball is struck, this technology enables the rear portion of the golf club to stiffen up, creating more stability in the golf club. The stiffened rear portion of the club then transfers energy back to the face, which then passes that energy on to the ball. The fly-brace technology increases the amount of total energy restored to the face with the high-speed cavity back design aiding the process. Both of these features are design elements that create longer and straighter golf shots.
The NexCOR face technology has been reengineered by Nike to create a seven percent larger sweet spot. The clubhead has retained its 460cc volume to produce faster ball speeds that lead to increased distance.
The Flexloft adjustability is returning to the 2014 Nike product line. Flexloft lets the golfer customize the driver to their specific needs. It allows an adjustment of loft and face angle separately from each other. The loft can be adjusted in one degree increments between 8.5 and 12.5 degrees and the face angle can also be set to three different positions: left, neutral or right. The Nike Covert 2.0 driver comes with a wrench that makes all of these changes simple and easy to make. The ability to adjust the two creates the optimal launch needed for maximum distance and accuracy.
The Nike VRS Covert 2.0 driver features a Mitsubishi Rayon Kuro Kage Black HBP graphite shaft. The shaft weighs 50 grams which lends itself to moderate swing speeds for achieving faster ball speeds for increased distance. The new shaft features a mid-launch trajectory to achieve optimum launch conditions and maximum distance. These shafts are available in multiple flexes.
This year Nike has made a driver that can be played by any skill level. Fly-brace technology showcases state-of-the-art technology that produces innovative and superior energy transfer throughout the clubhead for extreme distance. Flexloft adjustability allows the golfer to take command and custom-fit the driver to their specific needs. The driver's club head size and reengineered NexCOR face achieve maximum playability and forgiveness resulting in longer shots off the tee.
